And why I think flex office could be the bestestes thing for a company. Okay, grab your Monday morning coffee and procrastinate with me:

Again: Why TF Am I Going To Run For 3 Hours?

⏱ Next Saturday (31.07.2021) I’m going to run for 3 hours some trails for the Fundraiser “Running Up For Air” by Patagonia.

You see, Air pollution is the world’s largest environmental health threat. Poorer people and those from some racial and ethnic groups are disproportionally harmed by this invisible killer. Children who live near roads with heavy-duty vehicle traffic face twice the risk of respiratory problems as those living near less congested streets. 🤯

But it doesn’t need to be this way. If we cut air pollution we could prevent 50,000 deaths in Europe, every year. Breathing clean air should be a basic human right. So if you want to support, here is my fundraiser:

WTF Is “Flex Office”?

You see, at Senler Media, we’re working from home now since March 13th, 2020. This means that every team member is used to working from home rather than from the office. 🤯

We’ve provided everybody everything they need to work from home (and there is sure more we can do). Communicating with different tools (Slack, Whereby, WhatsApp, Pigeons) is engraved in our souls (more than actually making a classic phone call, lol).

However, even though everybody seems to get used to the pandemic era, we are still social beings, and looking back to our Laax trip, we need more real-life connections for sure.

So, I came up with the idea of a “flex office,” which means we will meet 1 day a week in a different space, in a different city (Basel, Bern, Zurich). Why?

  1. We have team members in those cities
  2. We have clients in those cities
  3. We can have a dedicated day with each other (and plan accordingly)
  4. We get to see new places
  5. We can still work from home, be focused, and do our daily chores

This means we are looking for nice places in each of those cities, not that far away from the train station. If you know where we should look at it, please write back to this email, forward it to somebody who could help us, or comment under my LinkedIn Post here.

Yes, I Bought New Headphones

And I really hope that my headphone journey takes a rest here now.

If you’re following me on my Instagram, you probably know my newest pair. If not, here we go: please welcome my new Sony WH-1000XM4:

Limited Edition White

Why these?

  • I got them recommended by a bunch of great people
  • I tried them on before I bought them, and they feel SO good
  • The active noise canceling is just…mmmhhh..
  • They are white (I love tech in white)
  • There are some other nice features that I will tell more about on my YouTube Channel soon.

What Else?

🏃‍♂️ I ran my first ever half-marathon for 6 years (!), and I did it alone. Actually, I ran 23 km instead of 21.5 km. I did an additional 1.5 km because I was looking for a fountain. So here are my learnings:

  • I can do this
  • Tape the nipples
  • Take water with me (after 15 km, I was desperately looking for a fountain)

📚 I’ve started this wonderful book called “Midnight Library” by Matt Haig (Orell Füessli, Amazon)

Nora’s life has been going from bad to worse. Then at the stroke of midnight on her last day on earth, she finds herself transported to a library. There she is given a chance to undo her regrets and try out each of the other lives she might have lived. Which raises the ultimate question: with infinite choices, what is the best way to live?

📱I recently bought the Magsafe Battery Pack by Apple. Although it hasn’t a large capacity, it has some nice features:

  1. It charges our iPhone with or without a case. (Make sure it’s a Magsafe case, though)
  2. It charges your Airpods
  3. It even charges an Android device (wirelessly, of course)
  4. With iOS 14.7 it also has some status updates shown on your phone

Alright, you awesome people! If you’re here, you made it to the end of this issue. But, before I let you go and start the new week, I’d like to leave you with one of my rules:

Keep going.

It’s okay to be fast, slow, even VERY slow. But always keep on going. Otherwise, you’ll go backward.

Let me know how you liked this issue and what you would like to know more (or less) about. And don’t forget to forward the newsletter to people you think might be interested in my doings and thoughts. 🙌

Have a great start to the week 🚀
