Running is Taking Over

If you’re following me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’m currently posting a lot about running. This may seem like a phase, but I know it isn’t. Why? I’ve been running for more than 10 years now (with some major pauses tbh), but running is one of the few things I keep doing and doing. I always thought that this is probably not that interesting to people so I didn’t share a lot in the past but now? OMG! Really happy that more people are interested in this than I ever thought.

I will also “adjust” my YouTube Channel a little bit more to running, the tech, and the journey in general. So the channel is going to be about Business, Tech, and Running. Seems to be a fine mix 🙌

😎 VIU-Ambassador

Who would have thought? But yes, I became an ambassador for a brand I really like. If you don’t know what VIU is, here is a short explanation:

  • VIU is a Swiss-Brand making stylish sun and prescription glasses
  • They are absolutely affordable and way cheaper than the brand sunglasses (which are all made in the same location btw.)
  • Each pair of VIU glasses is designed in Switzerland.
  • Handcrafted by a family-run business in the heart of the Italian Dolomite mountains as well as on the Japanese island of Honshū.
  • The prescription glasses are actually made in Basel, my hometown.

I’ve been buying their products since 2015. I can definitely recommend an in-store experience (this is something I rarely say since I totally believe in online shopping).

So, as you can see, many reasons to support a local business. You can shop online and use this code here AMB8Z2G00T. You can also walk into a flagship store and say my name to get a 10% discount. Cool, right?

How to Get Anyone to Do Anything

There is another podcast I listen to frequently which is Freakonomics Radio. It’s about weird, interesting and surprising connections in business, psychology and EVERYTHING in between.

In one of their latest episodes, they interviewed Robert Cialdini who is a social psychologist and a pioneer in the science of persuasion.

His 1984 book Influence is a classic, and he has just published an expanded and revised edition (Orell Füssli, Amazon). In this episode of the Freakonomics Radio Book Club, he gives a master class in the seven psychological levers that bewitch our rational minds and lead us to buy, behave, or believe without a second thought.

What else?

  • We really had a lot of things to do at work so next week is going to be busier and busier. If you’re interested to know what’s going on at Senler Media, feel free to subscribe to the weekly newsletter.
  • Jacky and I went out to get a full feet analysis at Sport XX by Migros and it was a very nice experience. If you want to start running or if you’re a frequent runner, go in and check your feet. It’s for free and the staff is amazing. More here.
  • Just wanted to say that Bern is a beautiful city with nice people.

Books?

  • I started with “Tribes” by Seth Godin (Orell Füssli, Amazon). But definitely not done yet 😅. For the new ones: Seth Godin argues that now, for the first time, everyone has an opportunity to start a movement — to bring together a tribe of like-minded people and do amazing things. There are tribes everywhere, all of them hungry for connection, meaning, and change.
  • “Small Giants — Companies That Choose to be Great Instead of Big” by Bo Burlingham (Orell Füssli, Amazon). It’s a great book full of stories of companies you may never have heard of but are just awesome in what they’re doing, and they also have a huge impact on their community. Something I’m aspiring to create with Senler Media. I think this one will take a while to finish. 😅

What am I creating?

  • My latest video is about the Elgato Wave Panels which are basically acoustic treatment foams for your working space/studio (Amazon). I documented the whole set-up with sound examples:

Treating My Room With The Elgato Wave Panelswww.youtube.com
Honestly, I feel like an idiot watching this video back since it took me longer to mount the frames than it should have, and it was completely my fault HOWEV…

Alright, you awesome people! If you’re here, you made it to the end of this issue. Let me know how you liked it and what you would like to know more (or less) about. And don’t forget to forward the newsletter to people who you think might be interested in my doings and thoughts 🙌

Have a great start to the week 🚀

I love thinking about social media, tech and business so much, I started companies around those topics and love to talk and teach about them.
